Why Does The Insurance Claims Process Take So Long?
When something has gone wrong with your home, vehicle or property and you have an insurance policy on these things the first step in getting whole again is to file an insurance claim. The process can feel like it is taking forever even when you work closely with an accredited claims adjuster.
In this first of our series on speeding up the claim process, we’ll review what you can do before an unexpected event occurs to set yourself up for a faster claims process to speed things up proactively.
Most importantly, take a regular inventory of your property including your home and items in your home, vehicle, jewelry and other property. This is especially important if you are making any updates, renovations, big-ticket items or have recently inherited valuable items. A great way to do this is to take a cell phone video of you walking through each room and narrating the big items. Go slow and take time to highlight everything so you can pause and zoom in if needed. Ideally, you should do this every six to 12 months.

Want to help others recover from unexpected events?
You may want to consider a career as an accredited claims adjuster. In Florida, once you earn your 6-20 accredited claims adjuster designation, you can apply to the state for your all lines adjuster license. This will enable you to work on home insurance claims, auto and RV insurance claims and property insurance claims. You would have the flexibility to work as a staff claims adjuster or an independent insurance adjuster.
