We are proud to be a corporate sponsor of the Penn State Dance Marathon (THON) and the Penn State University for 2023!
With our donation level, we are members of the THON For the Kids Society and members of the Penn State University’s President’s Club.
Our donation is made in credit of the Women In Business organization at Penn State that Angela (our Co-Owner and Chief Operations Officer) was a part of. She represented WIB as a THON dancer in 2012.
“Our Aunt Connie’s initial intension with this company was to provide an opportunity where anyone could feel like they had the power and resources to obtain an education that provided a pathway to a sustainable career. We (Angela, Cindy, and I) believe this starts with children. Children and their families who have been impacted by childhood cancer need our support because they deserve a fighting chance so any assistance we can provide was top on our charitable giving list with the goal of one day curing cancer! We couldn’t be more excited to become a corporate sponsor in our Aunt Connie’s memory and continue her philanthropic legacy. She was a graduate from Penn State 1980 as well as her son Fred 2005 (who passed away from cancer in 2008), my mom Cindy 1982, and sister Angela 2012 so we couldn’t think of a better place to start than with an organization and University that is ingrained in our family history. We are so excited to be a part of this year’s THON as a corporate sponsor and member of the Penn State University President’s Club. We know our beloved AC would be very proud of us for this and we look forward to continuing our support for many years to come.” – Natalie Zimmerman, Co-Owner, Chief Strategy Officer.
What is THON?
Every year Women in Business participates in the largest run student philanthropy in the world, known as the Penn State Dance Marathon (THON™). Our organization is taking action by uniting with 16,500 student volunteers to raise funds and awareness in the fight against childhood cancer. Since 1977, THON™ has raised over $200 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital. Throughout our partnership, we have ensured that over 4,000 families have not seen a single medical bill. In addition, the local research that is being done is making a global impact so that one day, we will find a cure. Each February, THON’s yearlong efforts and support for the families culminate in a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon.
What Is Women in Business?
Women in Business was founded in October of 1997 under the direction of Jocelyn Bennett, the Coordinator of Minority Affairs within the Smeal College of Business Administration. During the spring semester of 1998, WIB received its official charter from the University. Starting out with only seven members, WIB has grown enormously over the past twenty years, and now boasts over 350 members. Throughout the years, WIB has defined four pillars of the organization: Leadership, Community Service, Networking, and Professional Development. Currently, WIB welcomes both male and female undergraduate students of all majors into the organization.
